* Game Mechanics
* Media Management
Daniel started modifying game rules to see what sorts of experiences he could create in middle school. It took another decade for him to realize that everybody didn’t have notebooks full of probability tables and fantasy worlds.
Daniel’s research interests focus on games and how games are created. He studies both digital and tabletop games with an eye towards the mechanical elements that make games a unique form of media.
When not serving as a graduate student he serves as a senior non-commissioned officer in the Ohio Army National Guar; in that capacity he has completed four overseas deployments and one domestic disaster mobilization. He is the Graduate Student Senate representative for The School of Media Arts & Studies and the Scrips College of Communication. He is a native of Athens and father of two.
