Sometimes, it’s hard to adventure outside of our favorite social media sites. Facebook, Twitter and Instagram have become such staples in our day-to-day lives that we feel we can’t make room for others. However, for those interested in pursuing a career in social media, it’s especially important to stay on top of the new social media trends. New social media apps come and go, but sometimes they are here to stay. Check out these three up-and-coming apps that you may want to start using today:
Periscope has exploded in popularity within the last few months. This live video broadcasting app works with Twitter to provide users with real-time footage right on their timelines. With this app, not only can you stream live video to users all over the world, but you can also watch popular live streams right in the app itself. This idea of immediacy is what successful social media platforms strive on, and Periscope is taking the world of video and putting it in the same playing field as live Tweeting or posting.
Instagram has released another app, and this one is different than post. Boomerang allows users to create short GIF-like videos by combining photos into one-second looping streams. The idea is not necessarily to create a video with pictures, but instead to bring a picture to life. These live photos do have to be created within the app, but once your creation has been made, you can share it straight to Instagram or on any other platform of your choosing.
Taking photo viewing to a whole new level, Klink aims to create buzz about panoramic photographs by paying the photographer. The app, launched recently to compliment their online site, allows for users to post panoramic, full-screen photos and videos straight from the app or from the camera roll. The neat thing about this site is that for every 1,000 views, the owner of the photo gets paid $2.00. This brings a whole new idea of photo viewing and sharing to social media. While there are some in-app purchases, this app is free to download and begin using with just the touch of a screen.
