Registration is open for Startup Weekend Athens, an entrepreneurship event hosted by the Ohio University Innovation Center and taking place from October 21-23, 2016. The event helps individuals with interests in industries such as information technology, design, engineering, business, communication, and manufacturing develop a startup company.
On Friday night, participants pitch ideas and vote for their favorites. Following this, teams form around the top concepts and then spend Saturday and Sunday developing a business plan with the help of professional coaches. On Sunday evening, teams present their startup ideas to a panel of judges, which will include regional entrepreneurs, angel investors, venture capitalists and service providers. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams!
Startup Weekend events are held globally to foster entrepreneurship. Ohio University’s Innovation Center has hosted six events—which have attracted participants from around the state and region— since 2012.
Tickets are $50 and include registration and meals Friday night through Sunday night. Thanks to the Dean’s office of Scripps College of Communication, Scripps students, faculty and staff can register for only $25 by using code “SCRIPPS”! Registration and more information can be found here.
