Attention music fans and young professionals!
This Friday, February 19th, Zeke Hutchins of Mick Management will participate in an MDIA Q&A session about the role of artist management in the music industry. The event will take place from 2-3PM in Schoonover Rm 450 and is hosted by the Scripps College of Communication and the School of Media Arts and Studies.
Hutchins is affiliated with Mick Management in NYC, the renowned boutique artist management company that was started by ATO Records co-founder Michael McDonald in 2001. The current roster includes some of the biggest artists in music today, including Childish Gambino, Animal Collective, Passion Pit, Soundgarden, Of Monsters and Men, Real Estate, and Walk The Moon, to name a few.
Hutchins is the manager of many notable clients at Mick Management, including rising soul star Leon Bridges, Deer Tick, and Sharon Van Etten, an artist for whom he has also been playing drums with for nearly 5 years. Along with his role at Mick Management, Hutchins has worked as a tour manager and merchandise controller for Partisan records, coordinating all logistics for national and international tours including travel, scheduling, production, payroll and accounting.
"As a musician who has had a role in both the creative and business sides of the music industry, Zeke brings a useful perspective on navigating both the changes and opportunities in today’s rapidly evolving marketplace"said Josh Antonuccio, a lecturer in the School of Media Arts & Studies. “Attendees will learn from a manager who is working with artists that are building growing fan bases at a very tumultuous time in the music industry.”
Antonuccio will host the Q&A with Hutchins and the event will be free and open to the public. For more information, visit mediaschool.ohio.edu or contact Josh Antonuccio at email@example.com.
