Kent Taylor, a recent graduate from the School of Media Arts and Studies, has just received 1st Place in the Script/Treatments category at the International Christian Film Festival for his screenplay, A Soldier’s Gift.
The International Christian Film Festival took place in Orlando, Florida this year and awarded 35 awards to films, treatments, actors, and actresses alike.
A Soldier’s Gift is a drama set in World War II France and highlights six men’s journey through the war and reminder of the integrity they can find through God.
Taylor grew up in and around Columbus, Ohio before calling Athens home. He recently graduated with a BS in Communications majoring in Video Production.
The screenplay is currently in its 12th draft and Taylor hopes to get it to the silver screen soon. He ultimately wants to continue in the film and video production business and get more of his ideas into production. His largest goal is to start a media camp where underprivileged high school kids can be inspired to do creative projects.
Taylor says Scripps College has helped him to build a network of contacts with faculty and staff. Along with these and the contacts he made at the International Christian Film Festival, he hopes to connect with the right people to launch A Soldier’s Gift.
The screenplay was also entered in the Nashville Film Festival. You can can learn more about the screenplay on its Facebook page.
