Media Arts & Studies professor Eric Williams has been highlighted in Episode 21 of Peter Hawley’s podcast “Teaching in the Arts”. In the episode, Eric talks with Peter about traveling around the world as a teacher and filmmaker. Going back to his sophomore year in college, Eric has been able to combine his love of travel with his love of filmmaking. He recently returned from Ecuador as part of a growing partnership between the Scripps College of Communication and the communication and marketing department of Pontificia Universidad Católica in Quito, Ecuador. He also talks about one of his fondest memories as a professor at OHIO: working with Media Arts & Studies professor emeritus Dr. Don Flournoy and Ukrainian professor Eugen Fedchenko in Kiev between the Orange Revolution (in 2005) and the Ukrainian Revolution (in 2014). And finally, professor Williams explains the cutting edge MFA program that started at Ohio University this year: a program for mid-career professionals who want to student Communication Media Arts. Oh yeah, and he talks about virtual reality too, and why it’s important to unplug your phone every once in awhile and read a good book.
