Following last month’s trip to the South by Southwest Conference in Austin, TX, 23 Ohio University students will be hosting two panel discussions to share about their experiences from the trip. There will be two separate panel events, one on Tuesday April 5th from 7:00-8:00PM in Schoonover 380 and the other on Thursday April 14th from 7:00-8:00PM in RTVC 639. The two panels will each feature a different group of trip participants presenting on that evening.
The SXSW student panelists will be sharing about the Austin,TX conference and will address the many recent industry trends and developments that were discussed. Students will share from the professional insights they gained from multiple panels, interview events, and information sessions they attended.
Another key topic of the panels will be specific networking experiences from this year’s trip. OU students spent considerable time engaging with multiple industry professionals and had the exclusive opportunity to schedule one-on-one mentoring sessions with leaders in their career field. As a result, many of this year’s attendees reported that they were able to make significant connections for internships in other cities, with some students already interviewing for or being offered positions with major companies and music-industry based organizations.
The student presenters will also talk about some of their best experiences at South by Southwest and what it was like to be in the heart of the music and media industry for the week.
Faculty and students are welcome to attend both sessions, especially Ohio University students who have an interest in attending next year’s South by Southwest trip. For more information, email the MDIA SXSW coordinator Josh Antonuccio at: firstname.lastname@example.org
