Professor Pecora has taught, at the undergraduate level, courses in the core curriculum and on children/youth and the media. At the graduate level she also teaches a seminar in children/youth and media and the media theory course. While at OU she has also taught courses on audience research and women and the media. Her research examines the business of the children’s entertainment industry and has included work on Webkins, Nickelodeon, and websites and television cartoons. She is also is working on children’s television in Africa and updating the book The Business of Children’s Entertainment. Her research has included an international project where researchers from 24 other countries investigated the role of girls on children’s daily television programming. The Geena Davis Institute on Gender and Media sponsored a series of workshops and meetings with children’s television executive to showcase this project. The project was funded by The International Central Institute for Youth and Educational Television in Munich Germany.
