The ninth annual Scripps Day (complete details) at Ohio University will take place Tuesday, Oct. 14. This annual celebration of the partnership between the Scripps Howard Foundation and the Scripps College of Communication features a Scripps Expo where students share creative activity and collaborative projects, a plenary session and the naming of the Scripps Next Top Intern, which carries with it a $3,500 internship stipend.
“While Scripps Day at Ohio University is rooted in tradition, we use the event to continually explore how the partnership can benefit both the foundation and the college,” said Scripps College of Communication Dean Scott Titsworth.
“A number of positives have come from this event over the years, ranging from jobs for our graduates to new and exciting initiatives for the college. I’m excited about this year’s Scripps Next Top Intern contest, as it will provide professional development to students who attend and, certainly, for the winner, who will be able to use the $3,500 stipend towards an internship experience.”
The Scripps Expo will take place from 10 to 11:45 a.m. in Baker Center Ballroom B. The event is free and open to the university community and will offer a glimpse at what students in the college are doing. Students who participated will also have the opportunity to receive a Scripps-branded gift.
The afternoon sessions feature a plenary discussion on the subject of “Organizational Change Management in the Media Industry,” during which Scripps professionals will explore what it means to be a leader in an industry in constant change. This will be followed by the Scripps Next Top Intern contest, which was open to undergraduates throughout the Scripps College of Communication.
The day will conclude with a reception that will offer networking opportunities for students and faculty. Scripps Howard Foundation CEO and President Mike Philipps, who plans to retire next year, will be honored for his years of service.
In addition, faculty/professional working sessions and resume critiques will take place.
