James Shinault, Director of Event Engagements at AC Entertainment, recently visited with Music Production and Recording Industry majors at the Ohio University School of Media Arts and Studies this week.
His company is responsible for developing and managing major music festivals in the United States, including The Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival and Forecastle Fest, as well as tours for major artists such as Mumford and Sons.
Shinault shared his story about going from a college student to an intern and then progressing to an innovative and growing role in shaping today's live music industry, including six years of working for South by Southwest. Josh Antonuccio, Lecturer in the School of Media Arts & Studies, invited Shinault to speak with his recording industry class and MDIA majors about his story and the emerging landscape of the live music industry.
Over twenty MDIA students were able to apply for exclusive internships at Bonnaroo and positions within AC Entertainment. Shinault also held smaller mentoring sessions throughout the afternoon to answer questions about career opportunities available at music festivals in the United States
