The Annual Artist Showcase for Brick City Records (BCR) will take place Thursday April 18th at The Union in Athens, Ohio. Doors open at 9:00 PM, with music starting at 9:30 PM.
The showcase lineup will feature BCR’s 2018-2019 artist roster which includes Ohio University’s own singer/songwriter JRenee’, Cincinnati-based rapper $eptember, Columbus synth pop group Mungbean, and Columbus hip hop outfit The Emperor Chaz. The showcase will also feature an appearance by Bobby Booshay. Brick City Records is Ohio University’s premier student-run record label and has had the opportunity to work with these regional artists, overseeing the production, distribution, and promotion of their new music releases. Each year the label signs four new Ohio artists.
Senior Faith Galloway oversees one of the label departments, developing resources for artist marketing and promotion. “As head of Marketing and Promotions, my team has been working tirelessly to promote all new artist releases and the annual showcase,” she said. In conjunction with Ohio University MDIA seniors Conshea Brown, De’Vaughn Williams, Megan Pixler, and Mike Salopek, Galloway is part of the BCR leadership team that helped supervise over 25 students in operating the label throughout the academic year. “I’ve gained an immeasurable amount of experience this year and I can’t wait to see something I helped build come to fruition,” Salopek noted.
For this year’s showcase, the BCR staff have been crafting decorations to fit a 90’s MTV theme, and are encouraging concert goers to join the fun and dress for the theme. Tickets will be available at the door for $5 (21+) and $8 (18+). BCR will also be selling a variety of their new merchandise at the show.
