If you’re looking for a taste of local flavor this weekend, stop by Donkey Coffee on Friday, December 8th at 6 pm for Brews with Baileyrp, an hour of free coffee and live music hosted by Ohio University’s record label, Brick City Records. The student-run label, which selects a new group of local artists each year to collaborate with and release a series of albums in the Spring, is celebrating the announcement of their 2017-2018 artist roster. Performing in the backroom of the coffee shop is the on-campus music maker you should get to know, Baileyrp.
Bailey Panzeca is an Ohio University Sophomore studying Music Production. She has been releasing music under the name, Baileyrp, since 2015. Her distinct combination of dreamy bedroom-pop and somber folk songwriting have attracted considerable attention on Soundcloud for some of Bailey’s heartfelt singles. This show will mark Baileyrp’s first live performance, but this young artist is maturing fast, set to release a debut EP in April as well.
Another student organization, Ohio University Immersive Media Association, will be capturing 360° video of the show and livestreaming online. OUIMA students, along with the Immersive Media Initiative program in Scripps College of Communication, have previously produced a 360° video for the Grammy-nominated songwriter, Courtney Barnett, last year at the Nelsonville Music Festival.
In addition to Baileyrp, Brick City Records has signed three other talented Ohio artists; Columbus R&B artist, Sarob, Cincinnati rock band Sylmar, and former Voice contestant, Jane Decker. All artists are set to perform in Athens at the label’s release showcase on April 19th at The Union.
