The School of Media Arts & Studies welcomes legendary mixing engineer Michael Brauer for an interactive Q&A session on Monday 9/28 at 7PM.
Michael Brauer is widely-regarded as a true pioneer in the music industry and has worked with scores of legendary artists including Bob Dylan, Aretha Franklin, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Coldplay, John Mayer, Ash, My Morning Jacket, Calle 13, Grizzly Bear, Phox, Tennis, Ben Folds, Eric Clapton, Prefab Sprout, Leonard Cohen, Pet Shop Boys, and Dream Theater, to name just a few.
Brauer has developed ground-breaking approaches to mixing music and is a multiple GRAMMY winner, including awards for his mixing with Coldplay (Viva La Vida/ Parachutes), his work with John Mayer (Battle Studies/ Continuum) and, most recently, two GRAMMY awards for 2014 from his work with Angelique Kidjo and Calle 13.
His career in the music industry began in 1976 as a tea boy at Media Sound Studios in New York, and from there Brauer continued on to work with legendary experts at creating hit records, the likes of which inlcude Bob Clearmountain, Mike Barbiero, Tony Bongiovi, and Harvey Goldberg. He currently works in Electric Lady Studio B in New York.
“This is an exclusive opportunity for OU Music Production and Recording Industry students to have a conversation with someone who has been shaping the sound of contemporary music for nearly three decades,” said Ohio University School of Media Arts & Studies Lecturer Josh Antonuccio. “Michael Brauer is not only a ground-breaking engineer, he is also passionate about music, culture, and the creative process. His enthusiasm for his art is infectious.”
