The Ohio University School of Media Arts & Studies will host a retirement reception for longtime professor Don Flournoy from 3:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2015 in the Lower Atrium of the Schoonover Center
Flournoy is retiring after 44 years teaching and researching the application of media and communication technologies to the solution of human problems and the establishment of public policy that facilitates free and open public access to broadband communication networks. Dr. Flournoy has served on the Board of Advisors of the Intelligent Community Forum sponsored by the National Space Society to design the next generation of satellites and related infrastructure that will collect energy in space and deliver it to earth as renewable electricity. He was project manager for experiments aboard NASA’s Advanced Communication Satellite, is Editor of the Online Journal of Space Communication and the Director of SunSat Design, an international competition sponsored by the National Space Society.
