MDIA to host panel discussions with OHIO students about MDIA SXSW 2017 experience
Following March’s trip to the South by Southwest Conference in Austin, Texas, 26 Ohio University students will be hosting two panel discussions to share about their experiences from the trip. There will be two separate panel events, one on Tuesday, April 4 from 8:00 – 9:00 p.m. and the second on Tuesday, April 11 from 8:00-9:00 p.m. Both will be held in RTVC 281. The two panels will each feature a different group of trip participants presenting on that evening.
The SXSW student panelists will be sharing about the Austin, Texas conference and will address the many recent industry trends and developments that were discussed. Students will share from the professional insights they gained from multiple panels, interview events and information sessions they attended.
Another point of discussion will be specific networking experiences and career opportunities gained from this year’s trip. OHIO students spent considerable time engaging with multiple industry professionals and had the exclusive opportunity to schedule one-on-one mentoring sessions with leaders in their career field. As a result, many of this year’s attendees reported that they were able to make significant connections for internships in other cities, with some students already interviewing for or being offered positions with major companies and organizations.
Faculty and students are welcome to attend both sessions, especially Ohio University students who have an interest in attending next year’s South by Southwest trip.
