Ohio University School of Media Arts & Studies students have completed work on the sixth season of the Gladden House Sessions, a video series produced in partnership with WOUB Public Media at the 2019 Nelsonville Music Festival (NMF).
The episodes of the Gladden House Sessions were filmed on location at NMF from June 6th – June 9th. This series features artist interviews and stripped-down performances at the festival, all from the porch of the historic Gladden House in the Robbins Crossing village. Gladden House producer/host and MDIA instructor Josh Antonuccio leads the team of MDIA students who handle all aspects of production, including multi-camera shoots, editing, audio multitrack recording, live sound production, artist relations, publicity, and stage management.
The Gladden House Stage has become a fan-favorite with renowned artists such as Tank & the Bangas, Tyler Childers, Lake Street Dive, Valerie June, The Black Lips, and Pokey LaFarge drawing big crowds in previous years. This year featured another phenomenal lineup of artists, including The Wood Brothers, Mandolin Orange, Molly Burch, and many more. The series was started in 2014 by Antonuccio and developed in conjunction with Stuart’s Opera House.
Each year, OU MDIA students who participate on the production team are given the opportunity to work with a host of national and regional artists and produce video content that has far-reaching national publicity. “Festival attendees were excited to catch some of their favorite artists in such an intimate environment,” said Antonuccio. “Once again we were able to feature a host of national and regional artists, as well as unannounced sets from some of the headliners. Ohio University students received vital production experience in managing and recording this stage area.”
Previous seasons of the Gladden House Session are now over 1 million views and are searchable alongside of other major national music series, such as NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts and KEXP’s Live In Studio series.
The 2019 season will feature 19 episodes, released via WOUB Public Media starting in June 25th. The past five seasons can be viewed on WOUB Public Media at Gladden House Sessions.
