Music Production major Megan Wren will be releasing her debut EP Sympathetic Vibrations this Sunday, April 29. The EP features MDIA students Seth Canan, Ryan Mangan, and Seth Garrett, who play lead guitar, keys, and cajon, respectively; as well as production by MDIA professor Eddie Ashworth.
Says Professor Ashworth, "It was a true pleasure to have the opportunity to work with such a gifted singer/songwriter as Megan, as well as the other talented students who contributed musically to the project. Everyone did a fantastic job, and I'm really happy with how the EP came out."
The EP will be available for physical purchase at the release show taking place at Jackie O's Taproom (25 Campbell St., near Sonic) on the 29th from 5-7pm. Special guests Matt Waters and Ohio University duo Magnolia Child will open. Wren will be playing the EP in its entirety, accompanied by her full band.
Sympathetic Vibrations is a 6-song EP which explores themes ranging from lost loves to self-love, from curiosity and exploration to seriousness and reflection. It has emotional acoustic guitar and dreamy lyrics right alongside upbeat, catchy rock. Named for the phenomenon that occurs when a string or tuning fork responds to external waves with which they share a harmonic likeness, Wren hopes Sympathetic Vibrations will resonate with listeners as they recognize pieces of themselves within the music. Following the EP release, Wren will be spending the summer sharing the music in Athens, her hometown Cincinnati, and across the Midwest.
