The School of Media Arts & Studies is pleased to announce that student Steven Van Dyne was recently elected as the new Audio Engineering Society Student Delegate Assembly Vice Chair for North & Latin America at the 135th Audio Engineering Society Convention which took place October 17 - 20, 2013 in New York City.
The Student Delegate Assembly (SDA) is led by four AES student members, elected by their peers to represent over 4000 AES student members around the world.
There are two regions, North/Latin America, and Europe/International, and each region is represented by a chair and vice chair. These students essentially commit to a volunteer part-time job in which they assist the Education Committee Chair and Vice Chair to plan, organize, and run student events at conventions, and represent student members to the AES.
Steven was vying for the position among representatives from the University of Florida, University of Hartford, McGill University, and New York University. In his address at the second meeting of the Student Delegate Assembly, he embraced servant-leadership and showcased what a fresh perspective MDIA students can offer.
We're especially proud of Steven's accomplishment and hope you will join us in congratulating him! Also, read more about Steven in this month's HTC Newsletter (PDF).
