Evan Edmiston, 2010 graduate of the School of Media Arts & Studies, is an independent producer/engineer and Store Manager of Guitar Center Columbus. Understanding the popularity of the Music Production and Recording Industry emphasis within the School of Media Arts & Studies and the challenges associated with providing students’ the newest equipment, Evan and Guitar Center Columbus recently donated two Blue Hummingbird microphones to MPRI which will be used by students within the MDIA Sound Studios. According to Evan:
"On behalf of Guitar Center in Columbus, Ohio I am proud to be able to donate two Blue Hummingbird microphones to the Music Production/Recording Industry program in the School of Media Arts & Studies within the Scripps College of Communication at Ohio University.
As an MDIA graduate, I know the importance of keeping the gear current and up-to-date. I also know the expense required to do this.
These microphones specifically will allow students to explore different techniques due to the movable capsule unique to this microphone.
This is my way of giving back and thanking all the people involved in the MPRI program. I hope these microphones will help in educating the next generation of music producers and engineers."
The School of Media Arts & Studies is tremendously grateful for the support of alumni like Evan and community partners like Guitar Center who help us achieve our educational mission. Students with courses beginning in the Fall semester of 2016 will have access to the Blue Hummingbird microphones for the duration of their program.
