For five years, the Creative Visualization of Science and Technology class within the School of Media Arts & Studies has focused on increasing public awareness of a technology that – if embraced by global scientific communities, energy companies, and governments – offers a tremendous potential for clean, renewable, and reliable electricity…delivered from space.
It may sound like science fiction, but Ohio University is directing real media attention to this very plausible, very real technology. Every year, the class presents visualizations and short documentaries at the National Space Society’s International Space Development Conference, and now we are presenting our work in Athens.
Join us for a showcase fundraiser this Friday, April 24th, as we share our work and stories from five years of travel at the Innovation Center.
340 West State Street
Athens, OH 45701
The free event opens with a mixer at 5pm, including refreshments.
5:00pm — Refreshments and hors d’oeuvres
5:30pm — Showcase begins
7:30pm — Q&A
The class welcomes undergraduate and graduate students of all majors, and focuses on expressing complex science themes with visualizations that the public can understand. If you have media production, marketing, science, engineering, and other related skills, consider joining Fall Semester’s MDIA 4901 Creative Visualization team, led by Don Flournoy.
