The School of Media Arts & Studies will be offering an exclusive Music Mixing Masterclass with famed mixing engineer Michael Brauer in New York City. The specialized course will take place from Friday November 8th through Monday November 11th in the 2019 Fall semester. Five MDIA production students will be given the opportunity to learn mixing practices and philosophy from Brauer in his Manhattan studio over three days. As well, attending students will enjoy additional scheduled music industry events while in NYC.
Michael Brauer is widely regarded as one of the top mixing engineers of the music industry, with a list of hundreds of credits that spans decades of hits and substantive albums across genres. That list extends from his work with Paul McCartney, Aretha Franklin and The Rolling Stones to his most recent albums with Phoenix, Elle King, Angelique Kidjo, and James Bay, to name only a few.
Brauer has received 7 Grammys® including Coldplay's Alternative Album of the Year Parachutes, John Mayer’s Best Pop Vocal Album, Continuum, Coldplay's Best Rock Album, Viva la Vida, John Mayer - Best Engineer in Non-Classical, Battle Studies, Calle 13’s Best Latin Rock Urban or Alternative album for Multi Viral along with a Latin Grammy for Calle 13 Best Urban Album and Angelique Kidjo, Best World Music Album for Eve.
MDIA Lecturer Josh Antonuccio will lead the trip to New York City and will be holding an information session on Tuesday February 5th at 9pm in Schoonover 380. Spaces for this trip are limited.
