Laura Harbert is a Ph.D. student at the School of Media Arts and Studies. Her research interests include media for social change, audio and digital documentary, Appalachian Studies, and gender studies. Current projects include a content analysis of the news startup website: 100 Days in Appalachia.
Before returning to school, she worked for 20 years in public media and strategic communications, as a public radio general manager, program director, and producer; and as a non-profit communications director and consultant.
