The Game Research and Immersive Design (GRID) Lab will be hosting a participation site for the Global Game Jam January 23rd - 25th, 2015. The Global Game Jam (GGJ) is the world's largest game jam event (game creation) taking place around the world at various physical locations.
Think of it as a hackathon focused on game development. The weekend stirs a global creative buzz in games, while at the same time exploring the process of development, be it programming, iterative design, narrative exploration or artistic expression condensed into a 48 hour development cycle. The GGJ encourages people across various backgrounds to participate and contribute to this global spread of game development and creativity.
There are currently close to 500 sites participating worldwide in 2015 in this open event for all Ohio University students and Alums. If you are interested in participating, please visit the GRIDLab GJC site to sign-up as pace is limited.
This is the 7th annual and largest Global Game Jam in the world with an expected 25,000 participants worldwide this year. It is a great opportunity to network, learn new skills, and make lasting friendships! If you are interested in sponsoring the event, please contact John Bowditch at email@example.com. A detailed schedule of events will be available on the GRIDLab website. To follow the event on Twitter, use the hashtag #OhioUGGJ.
